Re: Wobland Spottage
I hate out-of-character numberplates but then I am a bit weird about the whole thing admittedly. I agree with Mr Impala, they do jar. Badly. I am also sensitive to those cars who have lost their original registrations and/or being imported after the change to age-related (but plainly never issued) ones. Used to love seeing old Yanks with reflective "incorrectly dated" Southampton registrations (many were imported through the town and registered with the local County Borough Council) but I guess many of them will now have unused Scottish and Welsh plates which although look "correct" are actually destroying part of the car's history.

Re: Wobland Spottage
Last Sunday was the first classic vehicle morning meet at a local garden centre. As my Impala is AWOL and I have been too lazy to wake up my Anglia I went there in my trusty Focus. It's a very popular meet with quite a variety of vehicles in attendance, I didn't take loads of photos as I was busy chatting to people. Anyway here's what I took.
This is my friend's '32 Ford Coupe, yes it's real, he imported it from the US where it was rotting away in a barn.
Very nice '66 Mustang GT
Lexus is the daily driver of a young fellow who wants a '69 Charger, good chap
Reliant with the correct amount of wheels
Yay, an Anglebox
Little red Corvette
Nice GMC Typhoon which with a turbo 3800 V6 and AWD is fast. Very fast.
Lairy looking HC Viva estate, forgot to ask what the engine is but I'm sure it isn't a measly 1256cc
Splendid Mk2 3.4 Jaaag, guy has owned it for 38 years
When was the last time you saw a Rover 414 as clean as this? Or a later model Lotus Elan?
'74 Trans-Am replete with the screaming chicken on the hood
Well that'll make it move rapidly
Pop has a very naughty 410ci small block Chevy to help it along. I can vouch for it sounding quite evil.
Good to see a PC Cresta with the rare V8 option (probably a Rover)
A quintessential British sports car
Tastefully rodded Pop
A rare sight a Vanden Plas 3 litre.
17k wanted for this '62 Ford F100. Mine was 200 quid and it was painted properly
Excellent, a Pop that has escaped the attention of the hot rodders
Lovely '66 Thunderbird

Nice shots which belie the bloody coldness that is blighting me at present....That GTE is a perfect slice of Seventies goodness with the original rims and Golde roof, love it! I know it isn't your bag but that W108/9 Mercedes behind the droopy hatch Vauxhall looks to be LWB, did it perchance run a 6.3, I wonder?

I like those Mercs, they're proper ones that were well built. I think I've spoken to the owner before somewhere else, if it is that one it's a six pot. I've always liked the 6.3, have a shot of one of my model versions:mercrocker wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 3:28 pm Nice shots which belie the bloody coldness that is blighting me at present....That GTE is a perfect slice of Seventies goodness with the original rims and Golde roof, love it! It's Wakefield classic and yank show tomorrow. Helpfully it's also a shit weather forecast.
As I suspected I was right about everything.
