Yesterday was dry, but didn't get anything done.

Today I decided to do something about the washing line. There was a twin retractable line mounted by the back door, but one of the lines gave up not long after moving in. Following Storm Barra, the remaining line was brought down, so I thought I might as well order a replacement. The line doesn't see much use because Mrs H has got lazy with the tumble dryer. I hoping to change that when the weather gets better as I've seen the last leccy bill.

Amazon consulted and cheapest Prime eligible ordered. It was promptly delivered pre-Christmas.

The old one could pivot side-to-side and had two screws holding it to the wall. This one doesn't and has four screws, so out came the SDS drill.


The unit itself is held in place with two drop pins, so it can be removed out of season.


I will need to optimise positioning of the hooks on the shed side of things later as the back yard has various vehicles limiting use of the line...


Rialto update


Honda Jr 1 reminded me the other day I hadn't done anything to this for over a month. I'm sure I had, but when I looked back at my pictures, he wasn't far off as it was the 2nd December.

Got the overalls on and it started raining. Checked the weather but it would be short and light so pressed on. Managed to get the end of front brake flexi undone from the drum end bracket


and other than that I got both the steering drag link nuts loose in readiness for removal. I did have some lame bashes with a hammer, but neither of the tapers popped.

I've been out with the hammers again, but they are just being stubborn cunts.

Not stubborn just not hitting them hard enough. In nearly 30 years I have never owned a ball joint splitter.

I'm sure they'll pop if get it right. The cunt is working upsidedown and off to the side so all the mud doesn't fall in my face. Easily avoided in nearly 30 years by not working on stuff with a central front wheel!

Out with the hammers again, but this time I got the keys out and put the steering on full right lock to get a better angle of dangle for a killer strike.

I was going to get something in-between my gay claw hammer and 4lb big bastard to get a decent aim, but sadly with it being a bank holiday there were no decent shops open that would have a 36/40oz ball pein in stock.

It didn't take long (having only to negotiate the back door step) but with everything to the side I popped the front one after a few misplaced shots.


The back one was the more awkward, so I thought what the hell, I'll bash the fucking nut instead.


I think the trick is to start a bit earlier in the day, rather than ten minutes before leaving for work.

It's a nice and sunny 10°C just now, but that'll change by the end of the week to too fucking cold to be arsed.
