I took the tyre off and found the rim had corroded inside to the strength of crisp packets and dry leaves wrapped in sellotape .
Lucky find on eBay was a used complete wheel in 15 years better condition than mine £70 delivered.
Soaked the seized nipples in rust off for a couple of days and got them cracked loose without destroying anything , cleaned and greased the wheel bearings . Hour with the spokes in a drill with sandpaper and wire wool had the spokes and nipples looking way better than I had hoped for . Built it back up and am well happy how it looks for a 20 year old wheel.
Two wheels good.

Re: Two wheels good.
My hand guards arrived yesterday so I fitted them after work.
Had to modify them slightly. Because I've got renthals the ID of the bars is smaller meaning the barends didn't fit. A few bits snipped off spare fuel hose and smaller washers sorted that. Only other thing to note is the replacement pivot bolt with the longer nut section goes on the clutch side.
That'll do for £42 of a great bunch of lads. The two pivot bolts alone are £45 off Suzuki and that doesn't include the smaller bolts that screws in the top or the nuts.

They do don't they? It's the stupidly long barends doing it. Renthal 758 bars and about 3" of barend. I'll have to remember the extra when filtering.
I'll measure tomorrow for ya.

Re: Two wheels good.
Another fettling day. It takes fucking ages to smash cats out of an exhaust, fuck knows how an engine can breathe through them either they're solid as fuck and already full of ash.
First I cut some flaps into some rather expensive downpipes.
Then spent fucking ages drilling, hammering, chiselling etc the cats to split them up and get them out.
As I'm a talentless oaf who can't weld. After folding the flaps back in please I shaped up some plates and sealed them on with exhaust paste. This is all hidden by the heat shields so you have to go looking to notice it.
She sounds like a real Harley now, test run tomorrow should be fun now she can breathe. Throttle response is a hell of a lot crisper, I know that. I did put a decatted map on her too, but I'll do the autotune while I'm out to get her as close as I can without a Dyno.

Yes, are you on retro rides? There's a bloke on there who has his own little refining operation and will buy.
