Not sure how modern stuff fares but I've had shitty pattern shoes on the Cowley where the casting itself was "out" enough to prevent full adjustment of the shoes - as the linings wear a point is reached where nothing stays aligned.

A rolling drum brake test is often enough to show these things up whereas "normal" road use doesn't.....

I've had wheel cylinders look like that as pulling the drum off has twisted the shoe so it's popped behind the piston, could it be a blown seal & just moved when you took the drum off?

I know one car (I've forgot which) did it every time, putting it back in place before refitting never caused an issue with the brakes. I think it was a lip on the drum pulling the shoe out that caused it.

It's a stupid little fucking Allen bolt holding the cylinder to the back plate which has rusted away.
I've replaced the piston and seal and bent the shoe outwards slightly and it's aligned better. Bled and stamped on the brakes and taken the drum back off for a look. Seems ok but i think I'll get this booked in for a new cylinder.

Fired this up today after a few months idle. I was surprised it went though. In the darkness I tried to connect the batrery leads up the wrong way round. It was like a lightening show.
I miss it worse now ffs.

My neighbor has been helpful this year so I got him a new Christmas gift. The lights on his trailer were steadily going bad, to the point that neither brake light was working any more and one tail light was a barely visible glow.
He's not very good with the electrical stuff so I rewired the thing for him. Boat trailer lights so they're ip67 sealed (or so the Chinglish on the box said) and LED so hopefully they last a little while.

It needs a new cylinder and maybe shoes if you have bent them very far. The problem is the ali cylinder and steel back plate. Corrosion has built up between the 2 and as there is only one bolt it has pushed it out of line. Very common on these

I read codes, cleared them and am now praying that it doesn't come back! PO175 (I think, didn't have me specs on!) which it says is: 'Fuel Mixture rich, bank 2' Apparently (according to the great God Google) this can be anything from a dodgy injector to a MAF or an exhaust sensor. So, no idea. Bring back points and carbs!

Bank 2? only half the engine then, so more likely an exhaust sensor than a MAF (which I presume feeds both).

Sensor 2 will be cat performance. The pre cat sensor measures the mix going in and sensor 2 measures it on the way out. Probably just down to short journeys and the cat never getting hot enough to clear properly. Keep an eye on it if the code keeps coming back it will need further investigation, basically reading the live data to see what is happening with the sensors. A good run getting it nice and hot every so often will help.
