Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
I knew you would come back wit this intellectually challenged bollocks.
It doesn't have pre 1986 petrol in it either. But petrol, electricity and crimps aren't newfangled tosh no matter how stupid you try to act.

You're right, the Chinese are a great bunch of lads.
Electric washers and a plastic bottle are new fangled tosh and no matter what way you cut it - an UPGRADE to modernity. So shove your 1986 bollocks up yer hole.

Bottle and pump are from the 1973 Renault 16.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
The tyres that are on it are the proper size.
The Michelins that are going to replace them are set aside for me and will be mounted as soon as I have some spare cash to get them mounted.
Why are you asking?

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
Sadly I'm currently neither affluent, nor healthy enough to improve the car at the pace I'd wish to. I'm trying to sell one of my 405s to free up some money that can be used on it and at the same time get rid of another post 1986 item cluttering my life.
One of the things on my shopping list for the upcoming autojumble is the original connector that goes onto the contacts at the washer pump. This would also enable me to better route the wires. I have been looking for a set of original washer nozzles since I bought the car, but hitherto didn't find anybody who wants to part with a pair. I hope the upcoming journey will yield some, but meanwhile my hope has truly sunken. It makes me sad every time I look at the current ones, since the original jets have a peculiar shape still engrained in my memory from childhood.
I'm deeply unhappy having to revert to bodgery utilising Chinese shit, trust me on that, but until the proper stuff is obtained, it will have to do. Especially since this car is destined to be my real everyday driver for the foreseeable future.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
Thank you for your update.
Are there any pictures of said parts to keep the collective eyes open for? Things like these sometime appear in the strangest of places, so if we know what to look out for...
Exhaust still tight?

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
Whether the exhaust is fine after my latest fine adjustment thereof will reveal itself later today, since the car will be used to commute to Telford.
Upon return I shall check whether the illustrations in the parts book are of any usefulness.

Re: Unparallel Renault 16 Happenings
That looks like a larger capacity screen wash bottle. You could easily use a half-litre in a day.
Electric screen washers are not newfangled tosh, they have been around since at least the 1950's, the Lucas Screenjet being one example. The famous Trico washer was operated by engine vacuum and sold well over 20 million, being standard fitment in many American cars. That said, the simple manual plunger type can be very effective.
The ones on Junkman's R16 were unfortunately kaput, so this is a definite improvement as well as a period upgrade. I am honestly looking forward to asking you to douse the screen... I have an exciting life.
