If there is room to get a drill in, then a helicoil style of repair is a doddle to do.

Trouble with this one is access - only just room for a spanner! I'm going to try some nordlock washers.....

Slightly larger bolt with a slot cut so it taps it's own thread?
Bit of a bodge but could work.

Maybe, that might be the last resort....Thing is, it really is due a new engine in a year or so (although I have been saying that for 4 years now) and the exhaust itself is stainless so I can afford a one-time fix....

Metal rawbolt? won't expand the hole so it's still fixable easier then.
I'm just thinking aloud now.

Re: What did you do today?
It seems clear that a chemical solution is probably unworkable owing to the heat involved....I've used liquid metal to hold in a B series thermostat stud but this is a different league....

Didn't someone on the beige, Peter C(?), have some miracle chemical metal?

My mate's just rang, the little red car is all ready. He's fetching it over.

Oh yes the stuff that knits Stuttgart steel back together? !LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:16 pm Didn't someone on the beige, Peter C(?), have some miracle chemical metal?
I'm going to try an engineering solution first, though. Strangely enough it isn't the stud I thought would wind back out and there is another branch of the exhaust blowing now too but at least access is a lot clearer that side. Debating whether to bring the van back here and do it - the barn is dry but no power or lighting to speak of and not a lot of space either.

Valeted inside and out. Came with sat nav and bluetooth transmitter fitted as standard. Reciept for £165 for brake pipes and mot. Got 95 on the way home. Petrol light came on when I was nearly home. Very pleased. Would buy again.
