Minis were expensive to build, whether that was because of outdated plant or a poor adaptation of the design to mass production I don't know. The Minor Traveller must have been inefficient to build what with the woodwork. It's usually the acillaries that write motor off. Clutch, turbo, ecu, flywheel etc. Very rare an actual motor fails nowadays.
