Re: Found pics
I can see now how a knackered Jag could easily out run and loose most of the plod of the time. By the time they'd got radio reception, or more likely found a phone box, the bandits would have long disappeared off.

Re: Found pics
True but all that stuff on those pics were standard patrol or "area" cars rather than Flying Squad stuff. Chasing bandits in earlier times called for Railtons, Humber Super Snipes and indeed Jaguars. They were generally extremely well-driven too - certainly as well as some of the banditry.

Oh yeah if you had one of those on your tail you'd be screwed. But then no support helicopter watching/chasing you, radio co-ordination, central traffic management, CCTV and ANPR means you're likely to only have one of them nearby if you'd been snitched or very unlucky..mercrocker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:25 pm True but all that stuff on those pics were standard patrol or "area" cars rather than Flying Squad stuff. Re: Found pics
Possibly it worked better for him as a drawing that way or may have got mirrored in the printing process. What I liked about Brockbank was his accurate portrayal of the subject vehicle. That is so clearly a 1300 Mk III and an excellent choice for a rather hen-pecked old fella to be driving. You can see the resignation in his eyes!

- I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?
