I think they all have now. Pas has been a given for at least ten years. I think with modern car regulations they all now have to have certain things. I think abs, brake distribution, pas, auto braking and numerous air bags are all now par for the course. No wonder there is no driver skill anymore.

I remember one of Mrs Rocker's friends having a non-PAS Ka but was sufficiently dis-interested to remember the age of it.

Don’t know, but you’ve reminded me of that common auction pastime in the 90’s ; reaching through the drivers window of Rover 2/400s and moving the wheel to see if it’d got the optional PAS . I once got a nice 214 SLi for me Ma and when I did the reach and rock the wheel, pretended it hadn’t ! Don’t know if my shake of the head and retreat to the back before bidding put anybody off or not, but I was a tight bastard then as well , so it must have been cheap.Warren t claim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:56 pm What mainstream cars can you buy that still don't have PAS?

Somebody pulled a similar trick on a p/x W123 280E I was after - been in before me, made noises about buying it and went off to get cash. I gave it a go and it wasn't running right. Sure enough - two swopped leads. There were auction tales in our local block about fellas making things stall on purpose, pulling vacuum pipes and the like.

That motorised plastic bag, the electric Ami, has unassisted steering and already a journalist complained that it robbed it of 'directness'. Some ride on lawnmowers even have power steering, unsurprising when youngsters lack the energy to pull their own kecks up fully.
