What did you do today?
Re: What did you do today?
The first bit welded on was all wrong so did this instead, a few holes allow for a bit of adjustment in the linkage.

And all replaced with the linkage added. What a palaver.

You can see there's not much clearance between the plate that the choke cable attaches to and the flange transmitting rotary movement from the spindle to the linkage. The original spindle was mounted on a taller bracket and would have fouled up; very fortunately I had another spindle and it's bracket, which inexplicably was about 20mm lower.

Re: What did you do today?
Actually did something to the SuLK today... put out the bunting, form the parade, issue me with a garland...
I placed with great care my 'Pistonheads' crossed pistons sticker on the car, very carefully sited so that no one will see it (very often) as it is under the back bumper where there is a slopping return between the exhausts. That was exactly where I wanted to put it, not conspicuous but there for those that give a fuck (no one!). I did carefully wipe the area with contact cleaner and soft tissues to show I cared...
Also fitted the new bonnet struts! which apart from a bit of a fanny with walking sticks for bonnet props was dead easy and very straight forward. Best of all, they work and actually assist the bonnet to raise on its own rather than needing the strength of ten old cripples to lift it and then threatening to drop on the head of any unfortunate who happened to be under there. Ones I took off were genuine Mercedes so at least 12 years old and the new ones are Magneti Marrelli which throws the entire balance of the car off with Italian bits at the front destroying its Teutonic
integrity.

Bought 2 new tyres for the van, well I say new but they are 5 year old take offs that have never been on the road. The joy of having the same sized tyres as caravans!

Re: What did you do today?
I bought an old piece of junk on eBay, which is one of the missing pieces of the car.

Re: What did you do today?
Currently at the gearbox place collecting my van. It's very exciting waiting for the final invoice.

Re: What did you do today?
Looks more like a turbojet than a gearbox to me.
