compared to the bloated walrus' that we suffer today, I love the simple interior of the early cars

and
Not been drinking too much, here I am at a regular haunt on Exmoor I know the owner of the beautiful series 2 petrol 2.25 and it has given me and dad an idea for Sandy the 109 Beer Bus Landy Dad's 1972 RR and my 1973 Staaag waiting patiently outside the pub Alas, the sun is almost at the yardarm and the ale is good, very good on another day when I wasn't a) pissed b)getting pissed at the pub or c)at Sainsbury's buying more beer. Dad's neighbour popped around in his pajero which he wanted me to weld the tow bar back onto ummm still we sold the remains on ebay for £500, not a bad days effort and even though the owner was sad to see it go! he paid £1000 for it 5 years ago. Range rover bobtail project, here I am splicing two chassis together. not like some halfwitted under the arches sarf lunnon wannabe gangsta. I have cut along the original welded joint and am aligning to make it good again. Enough to drive a chap to beer couple of tack welds before measuring it, and then again etc got my chums stag engine running again post rebuild. the poor lad couldn't even fit the grill the right way up. Good job it was me building the engine. Now he is Covidz lockdown because of a workplace spreader. arse more to covidz, sorry come

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun and other shit
part 2, I would have said Deux but the French and Belgians think we are the enemy when it comes to fish in our territorial waters. silly cunts
anyway
having satisfied myself with RR bob chassis the right way up! I inverted it and started all over. I was 1mm perfect, which is good considering that whoever made the chassis for LR where at least 5mm seam welding the fuck out of it, before dressing back the welds not finishe dbut happy with it, 85% original too. and what I have that is original June 1971 is in far better shape than the late 1980s arse end that I spliced on. Cretin who bobed this!! gahhh Pajero left site, the local breaker who bought it, removes engine and gearbox to container to the middle east and weighs in the rest. A container takes 60 he said, he used to send on container a month. holy shit Back to RR Bob, front outrigger had been gas axed by some mouth breathing gibbon, I cut a repair section from the donor chassis to weld in. Redshed, oct 1971 RR is off to a new home! sold with an unwritten contract for me to rebuild it in new owners garage while he learns. I have done it a couple of times now but towing a 500kg trailer with 1900kg of RR is no walk in the park. Boge levelling strut is not performing here, it did after driving forwards about 20 feet Redshed was a runner but stresses of a drive around the field etc have fucked the clutch hydraulics and now it just pisses petrol out also. luckily I was able to back the trailer up and roll the car back into it's new home. Back in Feb 2021 to start the stripdown. on the payroll of course Steve Cotten up the pub (google him) certifiable lunatic pretending to drink bleach from a leaking container, Laugh? I nearly shat myself. Part 3 coming as soon as I can type it out

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun and other shit
part 3 or III if the Romans are reading
All RR Bob project work here
Refitted the restored axles to the chassis, comedy tyres were on the car when I got it this is just aft of the main crossmember that sits under the rear seat. one of two rot spots on the entire chassis welded in a new chassis top section before making and welding in two new butresses. very satisfying, I love my job Bored with chassis welding I refitted the original bulkhead and a pair of used old stock front inner wings for alignment and prior to bulkhead welding repairs the drivers side of the chassis for the buttress repair was worse. Cut the lot out and welded in the repairs. all done cleaned and prepped chassis with FE-123 rust converter from rust.co.uk (no commercial link) Next up, this week is chassis paint and bulkhead repairs if the fucking repair panels ever arrive

- I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun and other shit
Restoration work on my TD5 this month has included a new headlining, which was a real pain to get right, more welding to sort the dreadful and over-priced job Nene Overland previously did, around the fuel tank (which remained in situ), a new damper for the rear step, removing, repairing and resealing of the sunroofs, fabricating and welding replacement rear bumper brackets, and a replacement speaker for the reverse sensors.
