I noticed my old mk2 Cavalier is back on the market. He has done a fair bit to it by the sound of it. The engine rebuild wasn't a complete job as I got a secondhand short engine but did rebuild the head with a new cam etc. I think the secondhand short engine had been rebuilt though but a few years before I bought it. It wasn't a bad car but when it ran the bottom end on the way home from collecting it I was slightly pissed off.

I wondered why they never made the GLS model in the sporty shape?
The E Coupe was, I understand, a way of using up Firenza/Magnum coupe shells and tooling in preparation for the eventual replacement of the Viva by Chevette before going over to the 2 door E saloon. The 1300GLS satisfied demand for a 4 door saloon as the Chevette was only initially going to be a released in hatchback form. E models had the old strip speedo whereas the GLS had the 7 dial Magnum dashes - again maybe using up mouldings etc.

Not eBay, but I see on the beige that Sam Glover is having a clear out.

If Maestros are worth £2800 now, I'll be selling mine.

I think i upset Sam on the beige by suggesting he would be better advertising a blatant ringer MGB with the original late registration than the early one that he admitted in the add didn't belong to it....

Nothing for us at those prices unfortunately, much as I'd like one or two.

I looked at a couple of the Jags and Rangies. I didn't think he was badly out of line - but I cannae afford any of it so it's really just windae shopping the noo.

I always wondered how he funds his cars - it's surely not from the wages of writing for Practical Classics.
