Re: What did you do today?
Went and had a look at the Van. It failed the MOT last Friday on a hole up under the jacking point. Kev at the garage didn't want to clag it up on the cheap without me seeing it and today was the first time he has had a free ramp. It is a repair that I had patched about 5 years ago and has predictably required a proper repair.
Why I didn't get it done properly when I had a well-paid job and waited until I had dwindling cash reserves, I don't know......
Anyway I've given him the go ahead to remove the rear suspension arm, cut off the jacking point and re-weld after properly repairing the sill end. I have also specified a proper access hole for future Bilt-Hambering as it was a closed box before. I briefly discussed the cheap option and flogging it off next Spring but Mrs Rocker made that puppy face so I guess it will have to get done properly and stay with us.
The engine better hang on for another year or two now, though.....

Re: What did you do today?
I decided to move my Austin A55 on. Not in the mood to deal with tyre kickers I contacted Mathewsons auctions in North Yorkshire who collected the car promptly and it went under the hammer on Saturday. The buyer lives in Horncastle, Lincolnshire which isn't far from where it was first registered and lived from 1958 until 1984. Hopefully the new owner will replace the wiring loom, source a new exhaust system and see to the few bits of cosmetic work it needed.

Shame it's gone, but sounds a hassle free way.
I think that's the auction house on some TV show I saw while down at my parents?

Yes it's the "Bangers and Cash" auctioneer. I've never watched it though as I have no interest in TV nowadays!
Ended up with roughly what I would have got if I sold private. I still have my BMC fix with an A60 Cambridge and would be tempted by a decent Wolseley 16/60 if I could find one.

Re: What did you do today?
Always sad to part but good to know it has gone to a good home. There do seem to be a few good 16/60s left so shouldn't be too hard to source one of those. Much as I have moaned about dealers recently I would still use an auction house (in fact the Merc is slotted in such a sale at the end of the month) as it keeps the mouth-breathers away.

Thankfully, I won't be driving it often.
I bought it for my Mrs, she needs room for her painting and decorating gear and the Peugeot Expert is getting tired now.
