Two wheels good.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

FTFY
You know what? it had, dent in the tank where normal bars had been & so forth. But at £900, riding well & only 21k on it who cares?

She's not getting it though as doesn't like clip-ons.

No idea, but nothing really cheap around within a sensible distance lately.

The Mito engine seems pretty fucked to me.
Was sounding nice up until I took it for a quick blast on Saturday and it sounded like a graunchy bearing, getting worse as I went. Took it home and parked it, pretty pissed off.
Today I contacted the vendor, who was quite apologetic.
He gave me the contact details of the shop that did the work on it, I'll ring them tomorrow to see what they have to say. Not hopeful.
I expect that, I'll be unable to ride it this year now, the shop who did the work will say, "uh, err, not our problem mate", I'll have to spend a fortune getting the engine rebuilt properly, what was supposed to be a turnkey bike, will be a long term project that'll ruin me and cause my Mrs to be right all along.
Bastard.

E.T.A.
I'll more than likely finish the project, to spite my Mrs and bank balance, then it'll be stolen, or I'll crash it.

Did I say I was a bit pissed off?

You hadn't mentioned it no.

Two smokes are easy & quick to rebuild aren't they? as they don't have as many moving parts as a real engine.

I've just realised that rather than have a separate thread for my instructor tales I combined it with this thread.

Here's a long overdue update.

Doing CBTs for 16 year olds was the bread and butter of our school. These were mostly a dull way to spend a Saturday morning as it's hard to spend four hours on a training compound when a scooter is a piece of piss to ride. Occasionally things don't go according to plan. We replaced the Honda Vision with a couple of Sym 50cc scooters, one was black and stock and the other was pink and semi Deristricted with a reverse pipe.

One Saturday afternoon I had two scooter CBTs out for the road section, the 16 year old on the black scooter and a 30 year old lady mounted on the pink example (we referred to the pink scooter as The Clit). Halfway through I needed a smoke so I took them to a quiet road to practice U turns as was my normal. Sadly the lady drops the clit snapping the brake lever off meaning that is was game over for her that day as I didn't have a spare with me. I made the decision to limp the broken clit to Claim Mothers house for recovery later as she lived only around the corner. The CBT continued for the 16 year old while 30 year old lady watched from the pilly perch.

Later that evening I was taxi driving as normal in my Metrocab when I saw three helmetless teens riding the streets on our stolen clit. I phone Mother Claim to confirm that the clit was missing from outside her house and head off in hot pursuit. I obviously phone plod and explain the situation and they assure me that help is on its way. The chase continued for another 20 mins before I make the executive decision to make tactical contact with the clit. Not fancying more jail time I choose a slow corner and execute a perfect pit manoeuvre sending them flying. By the time I engage Park and get out of the Metrocab two have run away and the third has jumped back on the clit and rode away. I get back in the cab and continue with the pursuit down narrow side streets. Despite full beams and lots of use of my horn a fucking Frontera pulls out in front of me meaning that the cunt can mount the pavement and escape.

Five minutes later I see a police car and flag them down. I ask them why they weren't scrambled to help me and apparently nothing was told to them over the radio. The officer tells me that I should have knocked them off on a fast corner and when traffic turned up just said that they cut across my path, keep my story straight and they'd look the other way.

Pissed off I phone Merseyside Police to complain about my lack of assistance and learn that they sent cars to the other end of Wirral! I tell the call handler what happened and she informed me that I should have parked up and swapped insurance details! I informed her that I was very well aware of who clit was insured with and maybe I should write the thief out a fucking CBT for his troubles!
Later on that evening I picked up a couple of coppers from the local masonic Hall and explained my situation. They said that call handlers are based miles away with no local knowledge and to count myself lucky that they answered at all.

True enough but I have no time to do it.
I'm just going to send it away to a 2 stroke specialist, pay the money and get a bit of peace of mind.
I'll be ringing the original engine workers today to see what the story is, I've googled them and they seem to be legit.
On the upside, I should have a decent bike for next summer. If plague doesn't get me.
