I knew a bloke with an electronic tool. Couple of inflatable sausages stitched into it and a small hydraulic pump which you could switch on to inflate it. Modern science eh, I think I'll stick with the old manual one myself though.CLINT wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 10:45 am Xantia got some wob and white paint a few weeks agoIMG_20200614_212552.jpgIMG_20200619_142736.jpg
Not quite the right shade but I'm not that bothered.
This happened earlier though which did bother meIMG_20200726_101801.jpg
Yes it's a seized auxiliary belt tensioner. The really awkward one to change, that needs a special electronic tool to do properlyIMG_20200726_101819.jpg
I might have a go or i might just pay someone, haven't decided yet but I can tell you for sure that driving a hydraulic Citroen with no belt is not fun.

Isn't that basically how post-op female to male transsexuals get erections?cros wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 11:19 pmI knew a bloke with an electronic tool. With those green spheres as bollocks and the height corrector valve clicking away it sounds like a right mess.CLINT wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2020 7:56 amIsn't that basically how post-op female to male transsexuals get erections?cros wrote: ↑Sun Jul 26, 2020 11:19 pmI knew a bloke with an electronic tool. Can't scrap it now anyway, it owes me about £250 and it's only done 8,000 miles with me. Nowhere near paid for its keep!

Re: My everyday transport. Xantia woes
Part fitted. Despite all the woe on the internet and HBOL it was easy to get to and a doddle to remove
I ignored all the crap I had read and just went for it. Removed the upper and lower engine mountings and lowered the engine. Easy then. New part only £33
Xantia lives again. It owes me almost £300 now, this bangernomics lark is getting expensiveOMG U OK HUN?

It certainly had an unusual stance last time I saw it in the car park. Glad you've sorted it.

Re: My everyday transport. Xantia woes
Yeah it broke its belt about ten miles from home, so no hydraulics at all. So first you lose the power steering, then the brakes although Xantia handbrakes are way better than most cars. I limped back but decided to leave it in the car park rather than take it home. After leaving it a few weeks at had sunk a bit so the car was pretty much undrivable and had to be fixed there.Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 09, 2020 11:20 pm It certainly had an unusual stance last time I saw it in the car park. The bottom pulley is now clattering due to being run with no belt so that's next on the list. Easy job though
