What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I've got the plunger type compression tester for petrol engines, so no harm trying it on this. Or I could borrow the one I used to diagnose the HGF on the Oldsmobile again.

I have never tried it but using a petrol engine compression tester on a diesel I fondly imagine to have
a "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" moment.

No, it's on the very long to do list, top of which is finish building a house.

I need to order new head bolts and gasket set from Trumpland.

in the spirit of... something or other, I was helpful.
Not terribly helpful, but a bit... Having a new door lock fitted, the guy doing it seemed to possess a cordless drill and f.a. else, so I leant him tools: files (6 of) hacksaw (1 of) Stanley knife (1 of) and a hacksaw. I even held a few bits while he filed/hacksawed etc.

Ooooh, I did feel all manly and butch!

MAF failed on the Audi. Got sent a Bremi one which on the face of it is a good brand.

It was utterly useless, faulty. It didn't cure the massive flat spot and brought on the traction control light. Rang up ECP, a Bosch one please. £61 later the car is running and going as it should.

Moral of the story: aftermarket MAF's are shit and the real thing is not expensive.

Yes, it is surprising how inexpensive some genuine parts are.

I used Fertan today for the first time ever. I was expecting it to be cornflower blue like Kurust but it's actually more like thin treacle.

Did you do a build thread on the house anywhere, like you did with the garage?
