Drum, is there supposed to be an Oil Separator Foam & Mesh Filter inside the rocker box on this engine?
Pop the rocker box off and have a look see if the oil separator is OK ?

Be fair, it only needs the top coats applying. :)

Cheers, I'll have a look tomorrow and report back.

It doesn't have the wrong dip stick in it and you are overfilling it by any chance?
Don't think so. I've had a couple of seasons out of it and it's just started doing this. No obvious sign of another breather.

Sorry I'm too mean to pay for a colour, besides, a dull grey suits my personality

It's funny how things go in and out of fashion. I last saw culumus grey on a Mk2 Austin 1100 and other BMC stuff.

This is the view under the rocker cover of the wee kubota engine and a look at the inside of the cover, which is surprisingly clean.

I don't know what an oil separator looks like, but can't see anything obvious.

I ran the engine briefly with the cover off.

Bit smokey. Does that point to a valve issue?

The oil separator would be under those two screws on the underside of the rocker cover.
Depending on model it will be a bit of foam or a bit of foam and wire mesh.
They will be inside the squarish sort of bit sticking up on the outside of the rocker box that the breather pipe comes out of.

Check the valve clearances while you are in there.

Looking at the pics again seems a bit oily in the first pic.
Is the oil level right?
Or had you recently run it?
