That’s lovely.
I had a real urge for one of those about three years ago and spent a solid six months looking for a good one over here before giving up and transferring my affection elsewhere.
What did you do today?

Re: What did you do today?
Very, very hard to find one that isn't heavily modified, stripped out, big money (because "low miles") or fucked. Despite selling half a car, the stripped out ones usually are on for same or more money which is rather irritating. Was tempted to buy a modified example and then revert to stock, as these tended to be more looked after cars.
I'm still on the look out for a nice unmolested 182 either in black, racing blue or (super rare) yellow. If I find one, this will probably be up for sale. For now it's a perfect runaround that I don't have to worry too much if doors get dinged and such.
150k but only 4 previous owners, bone stock and a fat history file that is mostly Renault service receipts, MOTs and consumables.

Re: What did you do today?
Some morning pictures post polish last night. Come out alright. Some lacquer peel on the roof - strongly suspect bird poop that wasn't cleaned off. Renault paint of this era definitely was pretty good. Thick and pretty tough wearing. Almost always polishes up well.
Really only the bumper scuffs that are the worst bits. Quite tempted to rattle can over those bits if I can find a decent source of matching coloured paint.
Headlights could do with a fresh polish and then something to protect against UV damage. Also need to remove the limescale deposits from that leaking headlight washer. Probably could do with a new headlight washer yet too to be honest.

Had a barried up Scirocco in today for mot. Surprise surprise it failed on rear brake performance.

Rear disc brakes, one of the most pointless things a road car can have. BRING BACK DRUMS!

Good looking car, can only go up in value.SiC wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 11:37 am Some morning pictures post polish last night. Come out alright. Re: What did you do today?
I disagree. Rear disc brakes with integrated bearing that has the ABS Reluctor in it just to add cost is the most pointless thing a road car can have. So a set of unventilated discs end up being £130 for the pair. THANKS RENAULT.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:04 pm Rear disc brakes, one of the most pointless things a road car can have. Actually I prefer discs than drums, because fuck drums with all their springs.

Re: What did you do today?
What I forgot is how small the Clio II is, especially compared to even more modern stuff. Next to my other stuff it looks normal just a bit higher.
Clio II: L 3.77m x W 1.64m
Dolomite: L 4.12m x W 1.58m
MGB: L 3.88m x W 1.52m
1100: L 3.68m x W 1.53m
Wider of course but only by 10cm. But 10cm shorter than the Dolomite and MGB, which are 30 years older.

At least the Septics get it right and their Honda Fits (Jizz) have rear drums.

That's a bargain, well bought. I'm so taken with my Clio, there are a lot of these in my auto trader/ebay bookmarks folder.
