Re: Crash! Bang! Wallop!
That's how I understand it:
In the UK police can tell if a car does not have valid car insurance by using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology.
A network of closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) and cameras mounted in police vehicles captures images of number plates and use optical character recognition (OCR) to determine the registration of cars using UK roads. If a vehicle is spotted which DVLA and insurance industry records indicate is unregistered, or does not have a valid MOT or valid insurance cover, police can, under UK motoring law, stop the vehicle to investigate."

Re: Crash! Bang! Wallop!
I knew it told them if a car was insured or not, just didnt realise it automatically told them the address, age and gender of the insured.
The car was insured, so why stop it otherwise?

Maybe they sometimes dig deeper when they see a young lad in an expensive to insure car?

The area of Southampton where that seizure of two uninsured cars took place is one where the Old Bill can guarantee a high percentage of non-insured....Proper ghetto, that and I would imagine there was more than a single reason to speak to the driver of that BM..
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
