Re: Crash! Bang! Wallop!
I've done the North and South Circular from IKEA Wembley to Clapham North with a double futon cushion bungeed over the seat.
Mate arrived back an hour and a half after me having carried the frame whilst wearing a motorcycle helmet - on the bus. He was going to take the tube, but the station was closed.

Blows equivalent to 120 (NL limit is 22), so about 3.5 over the more generous English limit.
Wim seems to confirm the vehicle's stereotype.

I had to work this one out. I've come to the conclusion it was a red "X" that was ignored.
The Dutch have something similar to a womble called a Weginspecteur. The crew-cab patrol vehicles have matrix boards on the back, the one in the picture (I think) being a VW Transporter. It was stationary when a post office lorry hit it and launched it into the air. Fortunately the driver was not in the vehicle.
