Isn't there supposed to be some sort of wonder additive that negates the effect of ethanol or is it like the old lead pellets you put in your tank?

Re: Rusty Triumphs in Scotland
There are, I think, two issues with rubber replacement parts or parts containing rubber. The Ethanol itself and the fact that an awful lot of new rubber products are just shit. Valvemaster Plus (it is no longer marketed by Castrol ) is claimed to have anti-Ethanol properties. However, I cannot see any evidence of FBHVC testing/approval like I can with the actual LRP element of Valvemaster.
Also worth bearing in mind that, currently, the premium branded fuels such as Esso Supreme and Shell Optimax do contain less ethanol than the standard, cheaper stuff. Apparently.
So far I haven't had any ill-effect directly linked to Ethanol use but I have had one or two problems caused by crap modern rubber.

Second that when I converted a kadett c to gte I ran fuel lines and repeatedly had to swap the quality hose out as it kept cracking.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.
