Re: Two wheels good.
Seat is fucked as I drilled a touch too deep. I thought of those too before I checked the seat.
The bolt will work, I made the same mistake on the other side of the caliper years ago after all

I've never had any joy with those things either, you're in a world of pain when you snap one. A drill press is loads more successful for jobs like that than doing it by eye with a pistol drill.

Re: Two wheels good.
I've got a pillar drill but the nipple comes out at an angle & there's no way to clamp it in the right place.
Anyway, the bolt didn't work. The face around the nipple hole is corroded & not flat so it won't seal. I've cleaned it up & smeared it with epoxy, if I carefully file that flat later it should work. I will pick up a M8 nipple just to try now, but like I said I don't think it'll seal to the face at the bottom of the hole.
Second hand calipers are £80-90 and I bet they've also got seized nipples, so I'd risk ending up in the same place again as I wouldn't fit one without stripping it down to clean up the seals etc first.

Re: Two wheels good.
Hmm silly me assuming the local car spares place would have M8 nipples, still it was a nice mile walk each way.
Now ordered some off ebay.

They do seem a good idea, I hadn't seen those till I spotted them on ebay earlier.

Re: Two wheels good.
Success!
I went out looking for a M8x1.25 bleed nipple today as the epoxy didn't work. I managed to locate three in four different spares shops & people wonder why everyone shops online... They all had a different taper on the end so I got the lot. Comparing them to the drill I'd used the other day I picked the one with nearest taper to match the shape of the end of the drill then used the closest one.
It needs nipping up harder than it should to seal but it works & there's no seepage when holding pressure on the lever. So it's a success. I'll try to remember to pick up a spare caliper at some point though, rebuild it & put it on the shelf for when I need it one day.

Got a meeting with the local place about becoming a motorcycle instructor. Any top tips or advice? Would it be a good full time career choice?
As a full time career it depends on the money offered. Will you get a company bike and bike gear?just an informal meeting next week to find out about what's involved. Good local firm, and I passed there 20 years ago. Hoping to go on to DAS training, which they pay for. Company bikes too.

Shakedown run in preparartion for a ride out to Hexham tomorrow. Meant to be about 35 shiters turning up and then having a run to Alston (I think). The vespa fired straight up despite me not disconnecting the battery for a few months.
