Re: Reliant gearbox query
I've a few people I can ask. I'd rather spend a ton on building this box than a ton on an unknown.

If possible get it apart and look at it before condemning it, it may not be as bad as you think

Re: Reliant gearbox query
Just to clarify, this happened before us attempted clutch cable adjustment, running a little behind this weekend die to having my son over. Anyway,Gearbox issue taken a dive today. Started trike up ready to take my lad back. Started fine and alls well so I was smoking a fag while trike on choke then the noise. There was an almighty clunk followed by a massive rattle. rattle went when clutch pushed in,still engages gears quite smoothly but taking up drive felt like it was skipping somewhere in the transmission case. I abandoned it on the drive and took car instead. Now the rattle coming and going with clutch pedal definitely seems like thrust bearing collapse but it went with such an almighty clatter I've never heard before. Gearbox definitely has to come off now.

Re: Reliant gearbox query
On the positive side
A) it happened in the drive
B) whatever has broken should be obvious now
Maybe ripped the centre out of the clutch?

Re: Reliant gearbox query
I'm thinking clutch springs/thrust bearings for ominous rattle and syncro or bearing failure for whining and stiffness
