I remember the CF ambulance at RAF Scampton when I was a young mechanic. Had an automatic box as I recall. There was also a couple of CF’s with Hawson bodies and manual gearboxes. Those were the days.Max Thunder wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 9:32 pm Hi

Possibly a British built Chevrolet/Bedford, going by the body length and general styling.

Re: Trucks Lorries Vans Commercial Whatever
Hi
Having returned back to Northamptonshire to visit our parents etc I decided to take the dogs for a walk. . Next to the lane were I walk the dogs an industrial estate has been built on what was previously a farm.
The problem is that the Sat Nav's direct lorries down this lane passed the entrance to the estate (which is clearly sign posted )
It's a well known problem and companies on the estate are reportedly telling delivery drivers not to follow there Sat Navs but follow the signs .
However a few still miss the estate and have to turn around in local roads which gets the curtains/Facebook twitching etc
Still with me. Trust me it's gonna be worth it .
Yesterday while I was walking back up I was saw this in the distance a driver had driven past the houses and down the lane Not only had he driven into the lane but quite a way down it before realising his mistake and reversing out which I thought he was doing .
But no he was being assisted out and as I got close I glimpsed the colour orange my loins began to turtle and what was doing the assisting .
Ladies and Gentlemen one of Mr David Crouch's finest ,a Scammell S24 no less Not only that Mr David Crouch was in attendance himself
I have not been so starstruck since meeting Lemmy from Motorhead in a bar in Hong Kong in 1982
More photos you t*sser I hear you cry It (she) sounded as good as it looked
When I asked Mr Crouch if it was ok to take photos he did comment why the driver had not stopped at the gate .Well words to that effect anyway
more photo's sorry some are a bit shaky but I took them left handed as my right hand was busy ......Holding the dogs obviously

A lass started a thread about that issue on a FB biker page recently. It nearly reads like a thread here at times!

Hi
Some what I saw at Classic in the Streets thing Raunds Northamptonshire
Not sure if the Fairground Scammell has any working Showland history but the owner has. Actually if I hadn't been in a shity mood that day I could have read the board and I would have known.

Can't speak for the entire life of that Scammell Highwayman but I think those numberplates (BGO series) were commonly used by Shell-BP on their tanker fleet and many of those tractor units have indeed ended up with ballast or similar conversions for use by Showmen - either latter-day or indeed as they came off the road fleets.
