*In a Hiberno-English sense: see https://stancarey.wordpress.com/2018/08 ... h-english/Judge James McNulty said: “He’s more than disorganised, he’s inconsiderate to other road users. They were all delayed while he toddles along on his way, not pulling in for anybody. That’s bold* behaviour.”
The judge said that the penalty had to be meaningful and he said that he intended to fine Mr O’Regan €600.

A cynic might wonder if there would be a different outcome for a respectable upright genuinely Ill person using the prescribed amounts of medical cannabis. Rather than some Scally in a skunk stinking Audi S3 stopped by two unmarked X5s late at night who just happened to obtain a dodgy prescription as a get out of jail free card.

I assume the prescribed stuff still contains THC? if so they would be unfit to drive unless it's a very very small dose.

Yes, well this is the question: At what point is someone actually impaired?
For drugs there are detection levels set. Bloods are taken, suspect released and if above detection level you're done.
For booze though it's different. Instead there is an impairment level set at blowing 35> (Scotland 22). If you're carted down the station you're held until you've sobered up.
The difference being they've never really worked out impairment levels for different drugs just effectively given it a 'zero', but given a rather generous allowance over zero for alcohol.

But isn't there some overarching law they can use for impaired ability? as they do for people falling asleep etc? Which leaves it to how much of a twat the copper is feeling at the time.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 11:33 amYes, well this is the question: At what point is someone actually impaired?

Things where much easier in the olden days when they didn't have these.Hooli wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 11:34 amBut isn't there some overarching law they can use for impaired ability? as they do for people falling asleep etc? Yeah but I mean I think there's a law that covers it even if ya sober & drug free.
