Re: EBay Finds
Not just a Moss rally car lookalike but as I recently went to Duns and discovered Jim Clark’s first car was one of these it must mean if I had one I’d also become a driving God.

Pretty car. Not the Supermiriafiori it first appears to be and not £10k, but nice anyway.

Re: EBay Finds
Talking of pretty Fiats…
I’d rather have one of these than a DB5 or E Type, this ones only 45 Grand, not that I can afford it.

Re: EBay Finds
£10k? I remember them being £250 shitters for the odd kid who didn't want a proper Escort to drive sideways. They were ugly then tooNorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:00 pm Pretty car. Not the Supermiriafiori it first appears to be and not £10k, but nice anyway.

Re: EBay Finds
The Fiat was a far better car as standard than an Escort. Why does everyone seem to think Escorts were any good ? In standard form they were total shit. Even though that particular Fiat is only a 1.3 it would of run rings around the Ford equivelent. Still not worth 10k same with any of that Ford rubbish. I have come to the conclusion after all these years that I really don't like British cars.Hooli wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 9:03 am£10k? Re: EBay Finds
I have to say as a serial company car user in the early 1980s when I still had career aspirations the Fiat Supermirafioris we had on the fleet were vastly superior to any of the Ford, Vauxhall and BL stuff we also ran. If you were prepared to put the effort into driving the Fiats keeping them on their cams they came alive. I never found them unattractive to look at either but then I prefer boxy saloons to bulbous hatchbacks.
They also boasted things like wiper delays which were not commonplace at the time. Fitted wiper delays I mean, rather than dodgy Italian wiring.....

A "Built not Bought" sticker is a warning sign to meNorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 4:51 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256455308164 ... 0667.m2042

Looks Factory ..... But I wonder if the cables looping through the slam panel have fuses in the right place ?
The DVLA still think it is a 1600 and it has an MOT due, it will probably do a few stints as a drift car until it catches fire a bit.
There was no need, other than being tight, to weld up the Diff,
I had a Sierra Sapphire with an Xr4 rear LSD and it was a proper hooligan thing in the dry but in the wet, it just wanted to bite you on every bend.
A welded diff would give me the fears of watching the B-pillar homing in on a tree.

Re: EBay Finds
I had the XR4x4 LSD in my XR4i & yeah it wanted to drive sideways all day when asked. Excellent fun & very controllable.
