What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

This lil’ old thing….

I couldn’t get the bugger to run, despite trying everything I knew. I think I was overwhelmed by the size of the 6.3 litre lump, coupled with the perverse 24v start on a 12 v system.

So I called in a Diesel Engineer. Took him 10 mins to work out the switches were mislabelled. They aren’t now!

It’s a runner, but huge! It might accidentally be wearing the plates off my 67 Riviera for the moment- enabling me to take it down to Dorset. That was an entertaining trip!

Anyway, it’s safe, away until I’m well enough to take it over to Belgium to park it in my Mums barn. There it can stay till lengthy old European trips are within reach.

Subjected myself to the mouth breathers on FB marketplace with two scrap value vehicle adverts, Punto and transit tipper.
Seems like every foreigner in Scotland (and some from abroad) have messaged me this morning. One was definitely coming down from Aberdeen leading me to tell others it was sold pending collection, only for him to change his mind. At least he told me. Another was going to come but I got a bad feeling about him so told him it was sold. Had over 40 messages asking my last price (transit is on at £250)

Supposed buyer of the Punto has gone all radio silence.

Tempted to mark them both as sold and get the scrappy to collect them.
Or rally the Punto round the fields and park it up as a scarecrow for the farmer

....but I can also see the flaw in that you'd come back with more than you started with.

You can have enormous fun out of a field car and it's still worth scrap value when you've completely fucked it...

Provided they are happy to collect it from the middle of a ploughed 15 acre field, of course!

On Friday when I filled up the Ibiza I looked at the front tyres and thought "legal, but", so trolled down the local tyre place and had a couple of mid range bits of rubber fitted. That and tracking, N/S front has been wearing at the edge, emptied my wallet by £155 quid.

Saturday set off for @xtriple land and soooo glad I had new boots on the front. Heavy rain, sleet, snow covered motorway north of Bristol etc.

Anyway, down here now and debating on my return trip being either in the Ibiza or the train (with the dog) as my Mrs is staying on for a fair time as her sis is not well. She'd prefer a smaller car due to difficult local parking so I'm stupidly looking at very cheap cars down here. Given I have five already, it would be stupid to buy another wouldn't it, rather than just get the train home....

Borrow one of XTs, they only seem to be used to go to the park so a 3-400 mile or whatever trip is bound to do it some good.
