A Tasmin was an eccentric choice in Corvette land!
I tried one once, also a f.h.c., I didn’t buy it. It did drive very nicely but the body and interior were just too shonky to put up with.

Re: EBay Finds
I must admit to being a bit tempted. No space for it though. And as for needy projects, I really don’t need another!

Re: EBay Finds
Previous to the Sebring spec. Plate appears to be on retention.Bob King, having come back from New Zealand was asked by Bob (Robert) Dewar, to help him with the preparation of some cars. Specifically an Austin Healey Sprite, HCC 600 (which was rallied in the 1961 RAC International Rally) before being converted to Sebring Specification and raced through '62. This laid the foundations for Edgware Racing Stable, which Bob King then transitioned into Racing Preparations Ltd (the foundations themselves of Royale). Bob Dewar also had a Merlyn Mk6 with a 1500 Climax which Bob King raced for him and was sold in late 1962. They then moved to a Lotus Elite with a 1500 Climax engine.

Waiting for Panhard65 to
(I am tempted but I've spent ludicrous amounts on cars this month and I desperately want to reduce the fleet size to something more manageable. Would be really nice to have few enough cars that I can work on any of them in the double garage rather than on the driveway.)

Re: EBay Finds
I will accept it is BMC crap but no MG. The modern Midget was foisted on the octagonal marque based on these.

Re: EBay Finds
The structure of design and engineering is very different between my MGB and Midget.
The Sprite MK1, MK2 and Midget MK1 had a different rear end quarter elliptic leaf setup which was more in-keeping with race cars of the time. While offering a tighter back end, the travel was reduced. Hence those earlier cars could skip over a rough surface and loose traction on one wheel. Not a problem on a smooth race circuit but could easily lead to the back end stepping out on a road. Also less supple over bumps too.
Hence later cars were "softened" off and cheapened with half leaf suspension to make it more user friendly for the average punter.

Re: EBay Finds
A bit more info on Wikipedia here:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin- ... ing_Sprite
Basically I think they're a conversion from a basic mass produced car into more of a race prepared vehicle.
I think they look pretty good when not all rusty and multi-coloured paint. Different and interesting alternative look to a standard Spridget and Sprite.
This is a more modern replica:
