What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

I’ve got a similar thing to that. Stick one end of the tube into the pump, it should be obvious which end. Stick the other end down the dip stick tube (take the dip stick out first). Pump away. You should see the oil sucking up the tube. Easy as that.

Looks like the one I bought a few years ago, if so, good bit of kit. If a tad slow...

Sort out the various pipes you need to go down the dipstick tube, then pump away to build up some vacuum and go and do something els while it sucks the dregs out. Worked a treat on the SLK and, according to the specs, it got every bit of oil out of the sump.

I bought petrol today, it's gone DOWN to £138.9 so I filled the Jag up to the brim.

Warm the engine up first to make the oil flow more easily.

Top Tip!

As soon as you have finished sucking oil out with one of those, empty the bloody thing.
If you think it will sit there just fine so you can whack another four litres in there you may get a surprise.

I tried to empty the lawnmower as well and after sitting full of warm oil it decided to piss oil out the bottom of the unit instead of building a vacuum.
Yours may be different of course but its from the same Great Bunch Of Lads.

Went to Sooth Shields via the Tyne Tunnel. Exhaust in the tunnel was most excellent.

Dunno, why don't you ask a heating engineer?

I discovered the window winder on a Mk6 transit is held on by a spring clip that slips over the splined shaft. Awkward and annoying. At least I got the door latch working again so the fannying about wasn't for nothing.

I've been having bother getting the electrons from the battery of the Davie Broon to the starter, so replaced the earth lead which was a partial success. I'm now getting quite the fireworks display from a bolt on the front frame between battery and chassis.

I tried to video it while turning the engine to find out what was going on.

No such job.
We're plumbers. You need a degree to be an engineer. Not many plumbers have got those.
