2 seater Merc.

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

It makes you look like an 'expert ' I guess if you say this rather than 5G.....

Some pin thing/fluid leak/level issue.

After 80-odd miles it failed to change up as per ad. Restart and it reset.
Will do basics and take it from there.

Steering is a bit 'dead' ..however..

Check the gearbox ecu for oil in it. Had a Merc filled the autobox ecu with transmission fluid years ago, there is a seal on the wiring plug into the box that was a poor design allowing oil to find it's way up the inner core of the loom.

That sounds right. I think the 722.6 is the same one used in my XJR and that's a known fault

Does it make xtriple an expert for calling this an R170? No doubt you'd be whining if I put just 5G too.

Funnily enough I've just bought a genuine one of those to go on mine that'll be in the box of bits in the boot for you! I believe it's a 10min or so job to replace when you drop the trans sump. Dealers/specialists replace it as matter of course when in there due to being quick and cheap to do with the consequences of it failing being far greater if not done.

I believe the earlier conductor plates on this age R170 are prone to failing too.
