Got it running nicely after checking the valve clearances, adjusting the mixture and properly connecting up the choke.

Even got it to stay in high range too.

We both had a shot of it. Good fun, but no bodywork on a farm track in November = washing mud out from my teeth with a cup of tea.

We loosely tried the tub and doors on it to see what adjustment is needed. Not a lot!

It also left some heritage all over the farm yard.

It seems to be a wee bit of petrol. A line just needs nipped up somewhere.

They are lowest common denominator landfill.

Look at the junk they make now. Arkana, Austral, Autistic, Appalling plus all the Peugeot and Citroen rubbish.

The French haven't made a good car in decades. It's all cheap junk sold to halfwits.

I don't think I'd ever buy a brand new Vauxhall or Peugeot.

The Astra was bought as car.exe and it's actually nicer than I thought.

I still think the last good Peugeots ended in 6. I really rate 1990s PSA group cars, but their newer stuff is indeed just landfill.

I won't bother with another Renault. The Clio was my first and last.

A list of what I've done:

- Rear brake backing plates replaced and parking brakes rebuilt.
- Both front struts (springs, shocks, top mounts) replaced.
- Both front calipers replaced.
- Stupid plastic bushing under the gearstick replaced.
- Clutch delay valve removed.

A to-do list:
- Thermostat and housing
- Upper and lower rad hoses
- Water pump
- Brass bleed screw
- MOT

It's a valve that delays the clutch....

I've seen them on Tdi LRs too, basically a restrictor in the hydraulic line. In theory to stop you dumping the clutch too hard, but in practice seems to make zero difference except one less place to leak when removed.

On a LandRover I can understand (to stop the chassis from falling apart).

But on a BMW?
