Beezer larks with a Visa 10E
A bunch of AS chaps have crowdfunded this little beauty and Wuvvum has spent the day getting from north east Norfolk to Bournemouth to peddle it to his place. He stopped by for dinner and let me have a drive in it.
I hope Wuvvum signs up here so we can add his amazing collection and exploits to the fold.

He's always come across to me as someone who's on there because of the cars rather than to indoctrinate people with their own political views.
He certainly more than held his own against the crap being sprouted by yesyesweewee though.
I think that he'd be an interesting guy to have on here as well.

Yes, a diesel & a 1.6Gti, both complete shit. The Diesel was actually nicer as it didn't pretend to be anything except shit & cheap to run.

The petrol 1.4GR my missus ran from new was a great little car, second only to my mk2 Golf GTi.

I never understood the dogmatic fetish for French cars on that beige site. I appreciate that the French were renowned engineers in the early 20th century (Gnome et Rhône monosoupape radial, anyone?) and made some stunning roadsters in the early 60s, but by the 1970s their flare had long since faded and they were mass producing weird, dismal shit that was just goppingly ugly IMO.
On the road:
1998 Disco 4.0 V8 (manual)
1994 Vauxhall Calibra 3.0 V6
Running but need fettling:
1986 Honda CBX750F
1991 Maserati 222 SE
1990 Yamaha XJ900F
Tax & MOT-exempt, woohoo!
1982 Suzuki GSX1100SZ Katana

Re: Beezer larks with a Visa 10E
I think it also depends on how old you are and what littered your neighbours’ driveways when you were younger. This era of french cars does take me back to being a kid and figuring out how to tell a Renault 11 GTX from a TXE at a distance, and just how modern a 205 GR looked compared to a Austin Metro HLS. When a neighbour replaced his Marina with a brand new just launched Citroën BX it was if he had gone to the fucking moon to get it.
When that Visa rocked up last night I immediately became 12 again and when I pressed the brakes during the little drive I had a similar aged naïve expectation of stopping. It was almost necessary to twist your body slightly and perform a karate kick to the pedal when engine braking wouldn’t do.
Love’m or loathe’m they are a rare sight nowadays.

Exactly & even just judging them as cars they are uncomfy piles of shit that mean I'd rather walk.John F wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 11:26 am I never understood the dogmatic fetish for French cars on that beige site. My grandad used to be a serial British car buyer. He ordered an SD1 and after it still hadn't arrived after 2 years, he cancelled and bought a CX. Always then bought French as the main car and a Vauxhall as a runaround from then on.NergleFuttocks wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 12:08 pm When a neighbour replaced his Marina with a brand new just launched Citroën BX it was if he had gone to the fucking moon to get it.
Never German as they were for dodgy scrap dealers and he wasn't one of them. Never Japanese as they did horrible things during the way.
