Same colour as the 260e I had. Excellent car but surprisingly basic trim level. Think I paid £250 and ran it for several years.

WDAFUQ? Ages since I've looked at 405 prices and some "Classic" dealer is asking 2k for a NAD with a dented door and quarter of a million miles on the clock? What planet are these people on?

I have to admit I'd be tempted by that MG Metro if it was black like mine was and I thought I'd fit in it.

During my working life I drove lots and lots of W124’s , I shouldn’t have liked them as a 230e with cloth and no a/c was the same price as a 24v Senator for fuck sake . But whenever there was one floating around I’d grab it, my favourite was a 300TE with all the options that a director chose over a Lexus LS400 or a 4.0 Sovereign, when he died it became a pool car and I must have done 20,000 private miles in it over 18 months, it was metallic red with cream leather and manual. Drank like a fish usually doing about 15 mpg and wasn’t that fast, one night I got comprehensively shut down by a colleague in a 260e auto- I ran out of steam at 130, the 260 dissapeared into the distance. Funnily enough that was a very basic car too- steels and cloth.

Anyway, I’ve moved onto W126 S Classes now, I’ll probably end up buying a Morris Minor!

I recall my 260e auto pulled past the redline in top & hit the limiter showing about 145mph. Gawd knows why they geared them so short.

Yarpie Cortina.

There's a video but it made my teeth itch...Not recommended.

Also in the sale is a rather appealing (to me) E3 BMW that looks like it could have been used by Jimmy Nail in a long-lost unreleased episode of Minder....

Unreleased? I saw it on telly, nail played a gypsy car buyer.
As I suspected I was right about everything.

Aye, in a CV-8 but the BMW I refer to could easily have been in a follow-up episode, had one been made....
