Re: EBay Finds
Another auction markup chancer.....Went for a grand at Anglia in November. I clocked the derelict E Type shell in the background and thought to myself - that'll be another OMG Barn Find listing before long.
Sure enough....

Re: EBay Finds
Exhibit "B"
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315061939258 ... SwXEBljyeO
Sold by H&H a month ago for £5,400. Given the already "excellent" condition, one struggles to work out what additional work and expenditure was necessary to incorporate into the current asking price - or indeed carried out in a four-week interim.
Of course the bloke has to make a profit but fucked if I would be willing to bankroll that kind of mark - up.
Edit - He's registered as a private seller, too....

Re: EBay Finds
Thats nothing compared to the Hotchkiss that sold at auction for £4750 and was put straight up at 13k and is now down to a more reasonable £8500. I can't see it shifting quickly as they are a bit of a specialist thing and the club know what it is really like and told me I had done the right thing not going after it.
1939 Hotchkiss 864
1966 Rover P5 (for sale)
1971 Lancia Fulvia Berlinetta (also for sale)
1977 Dodge 3700GT Hearse
1987 Renault 25 V6 Turbo
2010 Skoda Felica tdi
2013 Peugeot RCZ
2021 Yadea C1S Gay leccy scooter

Re: EBay Finds
I don't have a problem with people making a profit, after all we all have bills to pay. Even massive markups I don't really have a problem.
However all it ends up doing is pushing up prices of classics and making it harder for enthusiasts who actually want to buy these things. They also end up bouncing around dealers until they eventually sell to some sucker.
Hopefully we'll get a decent market correction to sort things out and a few people/dealers burnt, making the market more sensible again.

Honda VF1000R
One of my dream machines.
I would actually replace the VFR with this, but I can't afford to and I wouldn't want to mistreat it.
HRC colours of the 1980s are so good.
The VFR750 got really boring colours.
