Look at the state of this

The thread on this track rod is nonexistent beyond the locking nut. Needed heat to get the nut moving.

Created a pile of scrap.

It's currently sitting on axle stands hoping the wife comes back from town with the correct brake discs.
I need the car at 8am tomorrow so it will be mechanicing by torch light in subzero temps this evening. The joys.
I thought that you had a massive workshop/garage that you all used to live in whilst you built Castle Drum? Or is that full of potato sorters and so forth?
I do but it is still a lounge, kitchen, utility room and three bedrooms. Comes in handy when the bairns bring crowds of friends to stay.
All done.
Only a light frost with a bit of wind chill. No probs when you're hard as fuck.

Two front discs and pads , one rear caliper and a track rod end.
I had bought a pair of TREs and had replaced the offside one about 18 months ago as it had a burst rubber boot. Thought I should do the
nearside as it had play in it. The new one is buggered already though, so there's another job to do.

Autodoc twats sent me a pair of Almera discs which are about 10mm smaller than they should be. £70 worth so I'll have the hassle of returning them.
I found autodoc really easy to deal with when they sent me incorrect head bolts. It was months later when I actually realised they were wrong but they still took them back free postage and sent the correct ones out. They offered the option of a refund or replacement.

We are on a power site but we're warned people are getting through 10 pounds of electric per night using the electric heater and you pay for how much you use.
Luckily I've just tried the gas fire and it works fine.
I am on a few caravan groups on Facebastard - some twat always comes on to ask what electric heater to use to heat their awning and gets slagged off as being the cause of the electricity being metered now.
I am always surprised by the questions like - "we are on a site with no hook up and I plugged my hair dryer in but none of the mains sockets work" and "why doesn't our wi-fi work" etc
I do have to say that at least two of our most hardy outdoor mechanics are working wonders without the benefit of comfortable workshop conditions. They know who they are......
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
My battery problem goes on. Went to start the car yesterday after an overnight charge. Barely turned the motor over. Bollocks, couldn't drive it to the garage to get the new one fitted.
Put my charger on it in recovery mode yesterday morning. This morning battery meter showed 13.4v. Tried to start it, and it barely turned over. A check on my battery meter showed that the battery voltage had dropped to 10.3v
My neighbour drove me down to the garage to pick up the battery they put aside for me. Garage was closed (Internet shows open until 13.00)!
Checked a few other garages nearby, all closed until 2nd January, due to some local holiday and the New Year. Bollocks.

I'd be down Norauto or similar on my bike with a set of ratchet straps...

Spoke to the couple in the neighboring caravan, they were asking about the gas heating, apparently they went through £12 of electric in a vouple od houra last night

Which is what I did (but with RokStraps, not rachet). Found a place open, bought a battery, with 3 year warranty, for €107. Strapped to the seat, job achieved.
Got home, took the old one out, new one in. Milometer flashing, radio not working, hunting on idle.
Looking around the internet, seems I need to take it to a Fiat dealer to get it plugged into a Proxi machine to reset the ECU and BCM. And no doubt pay through the nose for it.
What a fucking faff. Never had these issues with my Mk IV Cortinas
