The oil drain pipe can be moved around as long as the mounting bolts aren't too tight.
I figured this out myself, thinking it would make sense when refitting.
I was pleased with myself when the HBOL turned out to have this wisdom included in the refitting instructions.

Now debating whether to go to all the bother of taking the intercooler out. I don't think it will have ingested any metal but it could have been subjected to some oil. I really don't want to be arsed mucking around taking it out as the fucking bumper has to come off.

Bumper isn't too hard to remove to be honest, intercooler could be full of oil and it'll smoke like a bastard, I would remove it and wash it out but it isn't my car.

Just remove the bumper and get the job finished properly. You're this far and put some money into it. Not worth it for the sake of a half hour or so removing a bumper. Modern cars are usually pretty easy to remove bumpers as they're bendy plastic and need to be removed for a lot of jobs.

To go against the grain, was there much oil in the pipework. If not don't bother. It will smoke like a bastard anyway with all the oil in the exhaust. If it has a dpf and it is easy to remove then a wash out would be useful. I did get told off by plod once though for taking one up the road after a turbo fail. They need to be driven to burn it off not just revved up standing still.

There was a fuckton of oil in the exhaust side - not so much in the inlet. It doesn't have a DPF and it always has smoked like Alex Higgins if one boots the slammer. That was clag rather than the lighter oil smoke though.

I've done the bumper off before on this and there are hundreds of fucking fasteners etc and two vicious clamp things too.

Turbot is most of the way refitted.
In passing I noticed the air filer is dated 2019 - better order a new one.
Despite no rain in the forecast God's decided to piss on us, so a quick break.

It lives! Started it up and it is having a wee idle - it's still on the ramps for now as I need to put the bottom cover on. Just checking for leaks etc.

Having the battery off for so long has really upset the electrics - the lights don't want to respond to the switch at all and have decided they want to be on headlights at every position including off.

Usually that is the case on many modern cars when the headlight switch is faulty. I.e. it can't detect if it's on or off and so just stays on permanently. Perhaps a few actuations will clean the contacts. Also probably a stored code - plug your scanner in and do a full scan to see.

There is also an option on the dashboard options to have the headlights constantly on or automatic. At least there is on mine with auto headlights.
