I’d rather have this than any RS or Cossie.
Those white wheels are hideous. I had a Mk.2 2.8 Ghia X back in the late ‘80’s. Lovely car.
The first car I drove in my career as a chauffeur was a 1982 2.8 carb Ghia X, silver with brown Chatsworth cloth UPD 26X. I discovered if you had the fog lights and sidelights on then flashed full beam the fogs went off and the driving lamps came on. Going down the fast lane of the M1 at 100doing that everybody moved out of the way. My Governor loved it , his house in Harpenden to Covent Garden in about half an hour. That’s what happens when you make the 18 year old messenger your driver and speed cameras didn’t exist.

Like this but silver and without the injection spoiler and sunroof thing. There don’t seem to be any pictures of silver Ghia Xs that aren’t injections

I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Yes that little ‘i’the TRXes and front spoiler, the rear lip was 2.8 injection only as standard, made you King of the Grannies. And I don’t mean Mario’s POF profile.

For the last year or so there was a Ghia X Executive which just meant the always optional leather as standard plus two-tone paint and that rubber spoiler on the boot.

That leather was very fragile and not many survive.

They certainly were and I don't think posterity has properly written them up yet....Any other badge than that blue oval and they would be all over the classic jazz-mags.

Not had many nice motors but my 2.8 Ghia X was a high point and I only sold it for the economy of a 5 speed 2.0 DOHC hatchback Mk3 - a stupid mistake. I've never had the money for a nice Mk2 since....

I never had one, but always wanted one. Still do but won't play the prices they go for these days.

Tell me about it, I’ve been looking and the very cheapest are£5/6k, £12,000 for a nice one and upto £25,000 for the best. I’ve started thinking about Mark 3s before I miss the boat on them as well, it was only about a year ago Cort16 on The Beige was struggling to sell a nice manual 2.8Ghia hatch for a Grand, now that buys a scrapper, at best.
