I went out earlier, remembered to refit the lining to my jacket and wore some disposable gloves under my bike gloves. Still it was a shock, legs were cold, neck was very cold (reminds me to buy a neck roll thingy) I just find it too cold to relax and then I don't corner well and I'm not happy with my riding.Hooli wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 8:47 pm It was officially rather chilly riding down to my mum's today. Even with the heated jacket cause my legs got cold.
I've got some chinky doodah copies of the V-strom handguards to fit for winter, but forgot to order the longer pivot bolts for the levers they attach too, so they aren't on yet, meaning cold hands. I'm still in summer gloves as winter ones are bloody horrid and bulky so can't ride properly.
Two wheels good.

Aye being cold really ruins your riding ability.

Wrap up properly and eradicate drafts and everything will feel better. Long johns or over trousers will sort your legs out and, as you’ve mentioned, a buff/scarf thingy will make all the difference.

Re: Two wheels good.
I've misplaced my wooly neck tube. I've a couple of free thin ones somewhere...
The last time I had heated grips work was at the end of April year. I was coming back from Carlisle when they automagically started working not far from home.
It has to be a lot colder than this to bother me, but then I'm acclimatised to it. Plus I've fat-bastard sized clothing that I can fill out with layers. Long johns if it's really bad.

Fuck riding at this time of year, I'm definitely a May to October fair weather rider these days, even though I don't have a bike at the minute.

I think it was maybe firing at high revs but the pipe was cold by the time I got home.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 3:02 pm Unless it's a bad plug or tight valves, I can't imagine it cracking 100mph n 3 cylinders
Maybe valve clearance needs to be checked as I'd imagine that would affect suction through the carb.
I'll check compression tomorrow although I don't know out if that would show up badly adjusted valves.

I'm wondering what bike to buy next year when I've passed my full test...shall I start a thread or will all you old men just argue amongst yourselves?

I'm the same now, although always tempted to go out, the cold, crappy roads and having to deep clean the bike afterwards puts me off. I always seem to want to ride my bike more when I shouldn't..
