The time has come.

Post by Rude »

Ello. I am rebuilding the top end of my Jag STR and have skimmed most of the mating surfaces with the straightest long file I could pick up at the local boot sale. The valves have also been lapped, simply by looking at them. I like to post all this shit on select sites but my usual haunt has not responded to an email change for a week and counting, I've tried several emails, signing up as a newb, and a 'contact us' form, but no dice, not a whisper.

So, It looks like that is done for... and I've decided to move on.

I'll have a look around and probably start a thread on the crap I'm having to deal with on the fucked Stype R I bought without even looking at. I see some familiar names.

Evening, sounds a fun rebuild.

Don't expect the email to work here either as the admin are useless bastards.

Is that the S type R that was biting your arse at every opportunity? Very entertaining reading. I would've bridged the fucker though.

Depends on the age. Earlier ones (AJ26 & AJ27) have timing time tensioner issues that can kill them if not upgraded before they fail. There's also a small elbow coolant pipe under the blower on the same age that goes hard & splits with age, that quickly cooks the heads if you don't stop virtually straight away.

Not heard of many other issues with them though.
