Re: What did you do today?
Hoovered the Merc out, it really needed it as the carpet in the driver's footwell had disappeared! Re-appeared after Hoover, still perfect under the leaves, shouldn't park it under trees with the roof down, should I!
Then had a brainstorm and hoovered the flat which was tedious. Went to a different garage and booked it in for a service and MOT... booked in for October the 11th!

Yeah boi, dragged it home last night. Doesn't run..
Probably runs, but cambelt/balance belts are 15 years old and my bollocks aren't big enough to spin it over.

Perhaps you can get together and give her a spitroast.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:04 pm Pauls other half will be wanting something like that for the red room....
Hell we can all buzz by and do some seagulling.

Re: What did you do today?
Went to the last local car night at the drive in and maybe the last ever as the owner wants to sell up and retire.
Couldn’t move for classic American tin. This place literally hasn’t changed since the 60s when the current owners dad ran it.
Knowing our luck, it will be sold, knocked down and turned into some trendy apartments.

Re: What did you do today?
I’ve a long weekend this weekend.
Taking Friday as holiday, Monday is a National holiday (Labor day) and Tuesday the plant is closed.
I’ve got big plans including,
working on the cooling system on the seven (rad purge and adding an extension tank and checking the function of the thermostat), grouting in the basement, putting up a couple of mirrors I’ve just had cut, burning the wax from the exhaust wrap on the seven…
And here I am at 10:30 (I have to get up at 5am usually for work) laying in bed with the dog sneaked onto the bed keeping my feet warm, typing on my phone.
BLISS!
Just need to work out how to get a cup of tea sent up. Would help if you could train an American wife to make a decent cup…

Nah, I've already asked out of curiosity and she said 100% not. I'm not too bothered as pretty much everything else is go.Nibblet wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 9:30 pmPerhaps you can get together and give her a spitroast.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 7:04 pm Pauls other half will be wanting something like that for the red room....

I sense an appearance on a TV show featuring strange and unusual injuries in Pauls future...

Re: What did you do today?
A quick fleet update:
75: It's starting to get a little expensive to run but that's all part of the game with these old cars. The 2 front lower suspension arms have just started to knock a rough. 78 quid a side and a horrible job (so a garage will be called!), the 2 front tyres are on about 3mm and the rears are cron 2019 and crazed so they all need replaced. I also still need to get time to fit the 2 back brake discs. Still fundamentally a good car though so it will all be done.
Saab: Going fine. I had some laser red paint given to me a while ago so I finally got around to popping off the scratched mirror covers, rubbing them down and spraying them on my lunch break. That made a big difference to the appearance of the car.
TT: MOT next week. 2 rear ARB links were advised last year and I can hear them now so I reckon those will be required. Hopefully all else will be OK.
Cav: I need to look at the exhaust as its blowing again. I'll put it in for an MOT in a couple of weeks. I want to buy the Mercedes 190 on AS and possibly sell the Cav so watch this space.

Re: What did you do today?
Randomly ran an insurance quote for a 17 year old with a fresh license and zero no claims on an HC Viva, cheapest was £1420 TPFT next cheapest was £4k...
