Re: Monkey see, Monkey go - To Transylvania
Update on a very unplanned issue.
Turning left on a roundabout I had to stop due to solid traffic ahead.then a couple of seconds later CRUNCH as I got rammed from behind and thrown down the road. I don't think the car was doing more than 10mph or so,but enough to throw me off so I twisted my ankle as it happened. Quinn has got her gear shift smashed off so she's stuck in second. Looks like three new parts needed to be mobile.
The guy was ok though and spoke good English, I've got my claim started already and asked for a hire car. My breakdown was a pain, they denied I was covered at first, but I rung back after double checking my documents.and got that sorted.
Guessing it'll need to go to the dealer in Bucharest as I can't imagine any other garage would even have imperial tools to fix it.
When I know what's going on I'll let ya know. For now I'm limping about in a bad mood. The only good bit was I was only 1/2 mile from tonight's hotel so limped it here stuck in 2nd. Asked my insurance for a hire car, but I can't see that appearing till Monday.
Time for a beer with the steak that's just arrived.

That will teach him to take the piss out of French cars. I bet some frog in a Citroen met him on a left hand bend. On a more serious note hope you are ok and get it all sorted without too much hassle.

Anyway I'm glad neither you nor your Village People machine are too badly damaged.
How many more days have you got left there?

Re: Monkey see, Monkey go - To Transylvania
Is it just the shaft of the forward control that's snapped? Your average village blacksmith could probably weld the shaft back together to get you home rather than muck about repatriating it?
A friend had the clutch go on his Varadero in Italy with a 2 week wait for parts, the recovery paid for a flight home then out again once it was repaired.
Might as well look around for anything interesting you could buy while there...

Not here, it's a tourist trap place not a real town. But yes fix that shaft and hammer the rod is all that's needed for nowDodgeRover wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 6:31 pm Is it just the shaft of the forward control that's snapped?
