I wasn't sure I remembered the size right. I know the later round one was 32/28 from memory so a bit slower.

Re: What did you do today?
An interesting day today.
Someone followed me home when I was in the Cavalier because they used to have one and were very taken with it. Normally I'd be freaked out a bit by this behaviour but I recognised the guy and his car and he stays just around the corner. It gave me the perfect opportunity to talk to him about his Y reg Mitsubishi Carisma that I used to love spotting. I felt able to say that I saw from the MOT history and tax checker that I had noticed that he'd cancelled the tax and the last MOT had a lot of corrosion fails and advisories. He told me that after another year it's now really rotten and past saving so the scrap man is coming for it on Monday.
This evening I went to look at an S Type Jag 2.7 diesel this evening because it was only 5 minutes away. Older owner, the car was very honest and obviously cared for. Apart from needing 2 back tyres it all looked and drove very well. The sills looked OK from the little that I could see under the covers but the seam was visible and not rusty.
The main issue is the 1 month of MOT left. The only thing that puzzled me was that it was up for a negotiable £1500 and apparently needing nothing to pass so why not just ticket it and sell it for more? He was selling it because his wife is now in a wheelchair and he's had to buy an X3 to accommodate that so maybe he just needs rid. I'll have to sleep on it. Plus I'd be giving up the 75 which pains me a little to do but I don't want 2 wafters on fleet.

Re: What did you do today?
Whilst old folk are not beyond pulling the wool I do generally find that they take the MoT very seriously and expect all of the trouble it used to entail in getting a 10-year old Cortina through at a main dealer. Maybe he just feels more confident leaving the current ticket in place rather than poking the bear (or those Jag sills...) and not spending any more money on it.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Fair point, here is a screenshot of the car in question, for what it's worth.

Wouldn't the engine be worth decent money to a range rover owner of all else fails?

Eddie's right though, I've made up my mind and keeping my 75.

Re: What did you do today?
It'd be a good price if it had 12 months. But 1500 is a bit short for something that maybe scrap value in a months time.
