How did they notice?Warren t claim wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 2:31 am I'm sure I read somewhere that there was a big drop in build quality when they shifted production to Portugal.

Sorry, don’t mean to piss on your chips Louise, my cars are hardly paragons of quality and/or beauty.

Not at all. I know what a 2cv is and how people view them. And I have a sense of humour
Am loving it, still not 100% about the colour* and the seats definitely don't go, but beggars can't be choosers!
*It's an odd one, I like the colour but it's very... Colourful. Its a bit of blue that you can't really workout what shade it is. I'm just not used to it yet I think. Bit of a shock everytime I look out the window

Looks a land rover type blue, I like it as it's an actual colour, bet it takes some polishing though unless it's been done in 2k.

It's been painted with every utensil you can imagine except for a proper spray gun! I might try rubbing compound or something, but then again, I probably won't!

Re: Looking at a car, insurance history question... Cat C
First issue embarrassingly right after overtaking a Merc on the bypass, making me look like a right dick.
Initially I thought it was a partial seizure, in 3rd on a long uphill drag when suddenly everything backed off, slowed right down... but then loads of popping and banging so I then expected to find it had perhaps spat out a plug.
Limped home on one cylinder. Was giving my little boy's friend a lift and naturally he went straight on the WhatsApp group about the awful nightmare he was having in Huw's mom's new car
Did a bit detective work. Took the HT leads off in turn to narrow down which side was not firing. Checked plugs weren't loose. Swapped leads to rule out an issue with that. Then waited until it got dark... Sparkly sparkles all over one end of the coil.
I don't know for sure, but I imagine it probably only went out in nice weather, so this problem hadn't come up until I took it out in our usual glorious Welsh summer weather (aka pissing rain).
Took the coil off and in the house to dry and cover the affected end in insulation tape, and hurrah upon reconnecting, it's back to 2 cylinders.
New coil coming soon (unfortunately for me the "go to" 2cv parts specialist is closed for the week for the 2cv 24hr race).
Whizzed up and down our lane and then a mile up the by-pass at 60. All good!
