I've been all over and under , had all the wheels off , this , today . It really is like a 4 year old car , sound as a pound apart from the tires ... so old they have no date code ! I'm sticking it in for an mot asap, then buying tyres .The battery is still ok , spins engine over fast , however when it's warmed up , the revs die , then pick up, revs die , then pick up ,etc . I wonder if the stale fuel has partially clogged the filter ? At temperature i would expect the revs to drop to a 7_ 800 normal steady idle, but its racing like on choke , and then this fluctuating . ..I'll see what fresh fuel does ! 26 years old , will i get classic insurance ?

Might be an air leak in the induction side. Perished pipes?

Only when its up to temp . Modern shit innit , some sensor tells the ecu to lean off the mix as its hot , the engine kind of cuts, but then anti stall kicks in ..about 5 seconds of fast idle , cut ..another 5 seconds of fast idle , etc
It hasn' t done a normal idle yet . Nor has it actually stalled ..

To be fair he is a blacksmith. Everything in his world needs hitting with a hammer.
