It's fucked. Unplugged the maf and it made no difference. Idling at 1.5k and smells rich as fuck.

Re: What did you do today?
Didn't you have a spare MAF? Or did you give it to split_pin?
1.8t have always been notorious for eating MAFs.
I got similar MPG on mine before I threw away the Euro Car Parts own brand MAF and fitted a new genuine Bosch. Now it's easy 30+ mpg.

Also not unknown for a dodgy O2 and air leaks can cause that code to trigger too.

Idling at 1.5k I don't think is normal with a MAF disconnected iirc. Wouldn't dismiss a vac/intake leak either.

Re: What did you do today?
Air leak on inlet side could give high idle, if it's running weak it's probably got the mixture running as rich as possible to compensate?

Reset the code and give it back quick before it comes back on again!

Re: What did you do today?
Yep it's fucked. Just put £40 vpower in and gave him the keys back. 15mpg before I broke it is quite impressive.
He did offer the keys to the jcw bini but I refused. No good at all in the damp.

Re: What did you do today?
Isn't there a thing about these 'supertuned' Evos that they don't like being driven like a granny at all?
A bit like overcarbureted cars with twin 45s in the past.
