Thanks SiC. My dip stick tube was broken too. Busy messaging a mobile mechanic for a price. I'm not sure I've got the patience for lying on my back on the driveway. I've ordered the pick up, oil, filter and sealant.
Why not just go into the place I linked and get them to do it?
I spoke to them on the phone when I ordered the pickup kit. Sounded decent enough guys. They even went to the post office again later in the day so it could get to me next day.
I'd already ordered off ebay. The oil seller rang me today for the reg number to get me the correct stuff.
I take it BAM are picky. I'd put a half a litre of tescos finest in it ten miles before the occurance.

The modern Mercs do have trouble with the gear selector modules so it might not be "operator error" rather it doing the usual Mercedes electrics thing. The modern ones make Italian electrics look good as they are so shit.
The 7G-Chronic.
What a load of shit. I had custody of such a turd and when I pulled up at some lights, put it into P and then couldn't engage D again without two or three attempts, I parked the shitbox up and never drove it again.

Failed to buy engine oil for my wife's Duster. Halfords had just the two grades of Castrol, 0W30 and 5W40 at nearly £11 / litre and in those annoying 4 litre containers. Nothing else at all. Their stock and choice of in-car deodorant (wtf?) was bigger than that of engine oil. Are Halfords going out of business? - they may as well.
So to the friendly independant parts place. Which is now part of a group. And wouldn't sell me engine oil because I didn't know the cars registration number and they didn't want to be liable if there was a mistake in their "system".
So they can fuck off as well.
They're just hopeless now. I went in two weeks ago for some Millers Ethanol protection additive. None of the goons there knew what it was and nor were they remotely interested. It was hidden around the corner and not with the additives.
As well as being shit, Halfords now have the obligatory advert with black man, white woman and beige velcro kids.

I tried to buy nail varnish remover today... it was fucking acetone free! Do the chemists sell it?
My Mrs tried to buy some in a supermarket in Hawaii a few years ago, they wouldn’t sell it to her without them taking a copy of her driving licence , which had to be a state one . The next lady in the queue did it for her. Apparently it’s used in making Meth or something.
