Re: Wobland Spottage
I had to do a rummage through my memory banks after seeing that YB.....Many years ago a friend of mine bought one and we took the XPAG engine out to flog to another fella we knew for his T Series business. The poor old saloon was not in bad shape, a little bit mothy but complete down to its little rear window blind and the on-board Smith Jackall hydraulic legs. I was gutted for what we did to it but pennies were pennies and the YB cost £60 running, the engines were worth at least four times that.
Anyway I managed to convince my mate to sell the rolling remains which he did. It was the same colour as the one in Eddie's post and I had a thought it might conceivably have been the same car although this was going on 40 years ago (as was anything interesting in my life) now. It came to me halfway though an English exam at school this morning - "our" car had one of those Middlesex "MG" number plate series often issued to University Motors, the MG dealer in the county.
I still have the radiator grille badge which I purloined surreptitiously when I thought the saloon was for the bonfire....
