A better shot. Obviously needs a clean before it is pressed into props duty, but just a few sample phone pics for Steffie to kick start the imagination.LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 4:14 pm That's a lovely Europa 2 places down from you.
Is that at Ketteringham Hall?
Good luck for the MoT.

There is a smaller version of this place down the road at a ridiculous price that actually makes me take it seriously. Uses up the Japan fund so probably stay here until Japan adventure starts.

I said ninety-six, not sixty-nine.
I agree for a V11 luxobarge plus, that size of battery is a bit gay, but then there are shit 096 batteries that are 600 CCA and good ones that are 780 CCA. 019s range from 800 - 900 CCA and even a Varta Silver is only rated at 830CCA.

Re: What did you do today?
You’re right, my typo! 096 is what most of the databases suggest. In one of the fields on screens in battery places the engine size correctly says 5993 but has (6) after it. Wanna see (12)!!! I had 096 for a few years - got through 4 on a Halfords guarantee! Let’s see how the 019 does with the naturally occurring drains that plague these 40/81s at their age../

Is it feasible to fit a battery isolator switch or is that likely to cause more problems than it might solve?

I used to have to drive my '40 once a week or it'd be too flat to start.

Hooli has the right solution. Use them or lose them!! I wouldn’t want to interfere with anything I didn’t have to on these! Just gives the fault finders another line on an invoice when the next inevitable investigation starts…LynehamHerc wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 7:55 pm Is it feasible to fit a battery isolator switch or is that likely to cause more problems than it might solve?
I aim to need to fill it up once a month (that’s only 225 miles on these roads) and that will keep it happy.

Just chuck it on a Ctek when you're not using it.
It's old electronics that has modules that don't shut off on the key and aren't particularly power efficient due to the technology. Does it have an alarm? That's a likely candidate.
Also make sure the boot and glove box lights are off when shut.

Re: What did you do today?
Had a poke at the voltage regulator and dynamo on the Sprite because it's ceased charging.
Shorting field to battery causes it to charge when it's revved so am I missing something? Does the dynamo need a small amount of residual magnetism to give the ~6.3 volts the manual states it needs to excite the field?
Edit: yes, it does. I think I just need to re-polarize the field core. I'll do that tomorrow and see if that wakes it up or not.

Reflashed the dynamo field windings, cleaned the points and adjusted up.
I don't know why people are afraid of these control boxes.
Set up right they're fine.Pontac Cheepten
