Nice collection there.....The Vicky actually looks to be a run-out VX model after they dropped the name-badges. Hope it gets saved one day.....

Well we got them safely into storage. Over the next few weeks and months I'll clean them up and assess them. One is apparently seized. I appear to have bought the latest example (probably Series V) and an early example. We could not see 3L cast into the block of the early one, and if it isn't there after cleaning I will see if I can find the engine number, as it could be a rare early 2.6 litre.

I will be going again at some point so will ask, but I'm pretty sure there was nothing left.

I just finished re-fitting the gearbox. It was a struggle and took several energy-sapping attempts to push it onto the splines and home but I got there eventually. I honestly don't think I could have done it effectively without the studs - that was a great idea. I have pretty much connected everything back up so tomorrow, weather permitting, I shall fire it up and see what happens.

The good news is the new clutch is a success and the gears seem to engage better. The bad news is I set the valve clearances as many of the exhaust valves had really closed up, now with the correct clearances it runs like shit. I suspected something was not quite right for some time before this, now it's definite. I will have to perform a compression test.

Suspecting either burnt valve or VSR.
