Re: Re:Another Hideous Yank
I've just had an email from RA telling me of all the reductions on bits for my Chrysler. So damned cheap, shame about the shipping and duty....

Do you know any American service personnel posted over here? They can get stuff shipped to their bases here at the same cost as it would have been within the statesmercrocker wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:55 pm I've just had an email from RA telling me of all the reductions on bits for my Chrysler. Re: Re:Another Hideous Yank
Sadly, not these days....We did have a US base nearby and used to drink with some of them locally but that's all gone now. Got family in Canada but that isn't much better for shipping and charges and still have to get it sent over here from there anyway, gave up doing it a while back. Annoying thing is the car was built in Canada and you'd think there would be stuff everywhere but my mechanic brother-in-law rarely comes across anything.

Yes, parts are daft cheap. But even with shipping and duty they're still cheaper than I can find here.
Just remember to pre pay duty at checkout so you pay the actual duty and not a number that some customs official pulls out their bum.
Anyway, the Cadillac is at my mates, might be there a while as he's doing mine between his other jobs.
As I've a Cadillac sized empty space I got the Buick out for fettle. Ditched the alarm system so no more battery flattening. Took it out for waft.
I think I prefer it to the Cadillac...
Except it's missing the V8 goodness.

Re: Re:Another Hideous Yank
Just as an FYI.
After shipping getting ridiculously expensive from rockauto and summit for my Buick Roadmaster and Mercury Grand Marquis I now just get most stuff from AutoDoc.
Anything I can't get from them I have to get from RA but only under difference.

Re: Re:Another Hideous Yank
Just looked and they seem to list plenty for my LHS/New Yorker. How does the shipping cost less? Is it single-sourced from one warehouse?

German efficiency.
Never used them yet because I'd need to order shit loads to offset the €30 delivery fee to Ireland. So I'm usually local or Mister Auto.

Re: Re:Another Hideous Yank
Autodoc are now using EVRI so I won't use them anymore to the UK. I find rock auto shipping reasonable enough but you need to mess about and get as much as possible from one warehouse.

Somebody could make a nice profit doing a little add on app that would workout the best parts to order to minimise shipping with rock auto.
